“Our upstairs was always 8–10 degrees hotter than the main floor. Pacific Peak walked the whole house and gave us an itemized quote the same day. They installed a zoning system with separate dampers and thermostats — each level holds its own temperature now, and our energy bill actually dropped.”

Vadim S.Google review
★★★★★

“Couldn’t be happier with Pacific Peak Mechanical. The install was clean and fast, the crew was respectful of the house, and everything was hauled away and tidied up before they left. The new system runs quiet and the house has never been this comfortable.”

Electric backup → gas + heat-pump upgrade.

Swapped an electric-backup air handler for a gas furnace so the system runs dual-fuel — gas carries the load on the coldest days instead of pricey electric-resistance heat. Also upgraded the heat pump to a higher-efficiency unit. Re-routed the gas line, new flue, cleaned-up condensate runs, and code-compliant clearances throughout.

NOTES FROM THE CREW

Old setup leaned on electric-resistance backup — expensive to run when it got cold. Gas now covers the coldest days and the upgraded heat pump does more of the work efficiently the rest of the year. New gas regulator, sediment trap, and a tidy service loop on the electrical.

Failed compressor → new Trane system.

The outdoor unit's compressor had died on an aging, rusted-out system — a repair that wasn't worth throwing money at. We replaced the whole system with a new Trane, wall-mounted up off the ground. New lineset, whip, and disconnect, with clean routing along the foundation and clear of the dirt line.

NOTES FROM THE CREW

A dead compressor on a unit this old and corroded means the whole system is on borrowed time. New matched equipment throughout, wall-mounted to keep the coil clean and the disconnect and lineset up out of the weather.

§ 13 — Common questions

Answers to what homeowners ask first.

Don't see your question? Call us — we'll give it to you straight.

Most ducted heat pump changeouts here run about $12,600–$23,000 installed, depending on home size and system. Cold-climate Mitsubishi ductless multi-zone systems typically land $13,000–$18,000. Clark PUD rebates take $1,200–$2,500 off the top — and your exact number is built on-site during the visit, never guessed over the phone. See the full cost breakdown →
Yes — the old "heat pumps quit below freezing" idea is about 15 years out of date. Modern cold-climate heat pumps are rated to well below 0°F and out-heat a gas furnace down to roughly 17°F, and Vancouver almost never gets that cold. How cold-climate heat pumps perform →
Clark Public Utilities offers rebates up to $2,500 on qualifying heat pump installs, and the federal 25C tax credit can add up to $2,000 more. We handle the rebate paperwork as part of the job — that’s where most homeowners get tripped up. What qualifies in 2026 →
In our mild climate a heat pump usually wins: one system heats and cools, and it qualifies for rebates. For larger or older homes, a dual-fuel setup — heat pump with a gas furnace for the coldest days — is often the sweet spot. We’ll tell you which actually fits, not just what’s easiest to sell. Heat pump vs furnace →
Our rule of thumb: if it’s over 15 years old AND the repair quote is more than about 30% of replacement cost, replace it. Under either threshold, repair it and keep running. You get the honest math — not a scare tactic. The repair-vs-replace rule →
Quieter than most people expect. Modern outdoor units run about 45–60 dB — roughly a normal conversation — and Mitsubishi’s quietest units sit in the 40s. Placement matters, so we site the outdoor unit away from bedrooms and patios. Heat pump noise, explained →
Quotes for new equipment — heat pumps, furnaces, AC, ductless mini-splits — are free and built on-site during the visit. Diagnostic service calls on existing equipment have a flat trip charge, disclosed upfront, that usually rolls into the repair if you move forward.
Yes. Pacific Peak Mechanical is a registered Washington LLC, licensed with WA State Labor & Industries under contractor license PACIFPM742JC, and fully bonded and insured. We pull a permit on every install that requires one — no shortcuts, ever.
Two, and only two: Mitsubishi Electric and American Standard. As a Mitsubishi Diamond Contractor, our installs qualify for extended warranties up to 12 years on parts and the compressor — versus the 5–7 years non-Diamond contractors can offer.
We call you back within 24–48 hours to schedule a visit, and your quote is built on-site before we leave. For no-heat or no-cool emergencies, same-day service when our schedule allows.
